Wall of Water Leaves Seven Known Dead in Calif
A forty foot wall of water roared through Tehachapi Pass near Bakersfield last night after a cloudburst leaving seven known dead and at least 20 missing. A Southern Pacific train was torn into a canyon at Woodford, killing engineer A. H. Hoss of Bakersfield. A gasoline service station owner and his family perished when the flood struck their station, with several others believed swept away. The flood ripped 600 feet of track, disrupted service, and buried debris blocked the highway. Last night’s cloudburst was the second in 48 hours.
