Believe bids for air base jobs will be asked in 10 days

Major J. G. Armstrong acting commander of the Roswell air base said bids for construction of permanent buildings runways and utilities south of town would be issued within ten days. He noted a 20 day bid advertisement period and that contracts would start about a month later after bidding.

Crash Death Of Mrs. Ima Dell Rich Moon In Roswell

Mrs. Ima Dell Rich Moon 28 of 802 West 8th Street died from a skull fracture after a 8:42 am crash at 8th and Lea. Her 1937 Chevrolet collided with a 1931 Ford driven by Ray Curlee 18, who was injured. Moon’s 4 year old son and sister Jessie Rich rode with her. boy unhurt, sister shocked with a broken tooth. Moon had lived in Roswell seven years. funeral plans pending Ballard Funeral Home. Curlee, a Roswell High senior and Coyote football standout, lives at 1803 North Garden Ave. Authorities may hold an inquest.

Two Army Airmen Die In Sandia Mountain Crash

An inquest was ordered in Albuquerque after two Army airmen died in a light bomber wreckage found on the Sandia mountains west slopes. Lieut. Seldon T. Miller of Bellevue Texas and staff sergeant Howard L. Edwards of Albuquerque perished when the plane crashed November 17 during a routine flight, likely struck by a downdraft and hit pine trees before reaching Bear Canyon.

Undersecretary of the interior J J Dempsey said the federal Bureau of Mines may send inspectors to evaluate New Mexico mineral deposits for strategic metals to aid national defense. He spoke after a meeting with Governor Miles and state geologist John Kelly, also noting Pecos River flood plans and pending reclamation service reports from Roswell area surveys.

Refresher Course Meeting For Aviation Cadets

The Elks Club sponsors a refresher course for young men to qualify as aviation cadets. Eligibility requires ages 20 to 27, good character, unmarried with no dependents, and 52 college credits or passing examinations in history, English, geometry, chemistry, and physics. Motorist Gets Stuck After Police Chase

In Albuquerque New Mexico on November 26 a motorist parked an untagged car illegally. Police Sgt Walter Coleman climbed in to drive it to the station finding the driver Jack Burch had left tire patching cement in the front seat. Burch was fined five dollars for no license tags.
