An AC45 Twin Beachcraft arrived at Roswell Industrial Air Center from Quantico VA for use by Eastern New Mexico University Roswell in the Aircraft Mechanics School. Lt Commander L A Herr and ADR-3 John Meyer ferried the craft from Norfolk VA with VAF 31. Rep. Tom Morris helped locate the plane. The 450 horsepower engine meets FAA requirements for higher horsepower engine instruction.

A grass fire swept the 300 block of E Hervey Drive in Roswell Monday afternoon, damaging several fences and one occupied home. Fire crews from Trucks No 1 and 10 battled the blaze for about an hour, starting at 301 E Hervey and moving to surrounding vacant VA and Adams sign properties. Cause undetermined with multiple possible origins.
