Fiscal Analyst says NMEA statistics are inaccurate
Inez Gill, the legislative fiscal analyst, found two of five NMEA statistics on New Mexico school finance inaccurate. The errors shift NM from 34th to 23rd in per pupil expenditure and from 50th to 29th in annual growth. Other figures could not be checked due to data gaps. The NEA data relied on inflated attendance and was not adjusted by state figures. James Green of NMEA noted he had not seen the report.
