The Chaves County Adult Detention Center received the New Mexico Local Government Accreditation Award for professional standards becoming the state's first county facility to achieve the ADPSC re accreditation. The three year credential begins July 1 after a June 18 presentation in Albuquerque.

Carlsbad Man Sentenced for Illegal Firearm Possession
Larry Allen Jennings 50 received 46 months in federal prison and two years supervised release in Las Cruces federal court for illegally possessing 10 firearms and about 1177 rounds of ammunition. He had prior felon in possession of firearms charges and was arrested April 17 2014 for alleged January 17 2014 offenses in Eddy County. The Pecos Valley Drug Task Force and ATF investigated.

Roswell Man Arrested for Drug Paraphernalia
Hector Manuel Alonzo Jr. 23 of Roswell was arrested at East Summit Street and South Grand Avenue at 9 43 p m Tuesday on possession of drug paraphernalia. Police report a theft at 300 block North Main Street at 7 05 p m Tuesday with a diamond ring guitar purse and wallet stolen. Criminal damage to a dwelling at 700 block South Atkinson Avenue reported at 4 37 p m Tuesday with $700 in damages.
