Pearce Removed From House GOP Whip Team Over Trade Vote
U S Representative Steve Pearce was dropped from the House GOP whip team after voting June 12 against a leadership backed procedural rule tied to fast track trade authority and Trade Adjustment Assistance. Fellow Republicans Cynthia Lummis and Trent Franks were also removed for the same vote. Pearce defended his decision as representing constituents and voting on principle.

Roswell Filmfest and Cosmicon Set for July 2 4
The Roswell Mall hosts a three day festival featuring a Steam punk extravaganza goggle building workshops a radio show workshop Tea Dueling and a Cosplay Parade and Awards. Special guest Tommy Lister known as Tiny will appear from The Fifth Element The Dark Night. A gaming tournament and 47 sci fi shorts are on the schedule with cosplayers and film screenings guiding the event.

NMMI Names Graff New Commandant of Cadets
Jonathan K. Graff Jr. will become commandant of cadets and dean of students at New Mexico Military Institute effective July 1. A 1991 USMA graduate, Graff has four years at NMMI with three promotions and 23 years in the Army including infantry command.
