Rain helps firefighters near containment in New Mexico fires
Rain aided crews as several New Mexico wildfires were brought toward containment across the western half of the state. The Trampas Fire remained active at 4,750 acres and 25 percent contained in the Pecos Wilderness, while Royal Alameda and Guacamal were fully contained, and Battleship Virgin and Cuba Ranger fires were still being assessed. Arizona fires forcing evacuations near Show Low drew resources away, with two fire lines shifted to large blazes there. smoke drifted into Albuquerque and Santa Fe from Arizona and Durango fires, complicating air quality and visibility.
