Wall Street trims gains amid unsettled bids on armistice terms
In New York trading June 22 selective stocks edged toward a rally but most issues fell back as traders awaited confirmation of France's armistice terms with Germany. Transfers ran only 203,300 shares in two hours, several favorites rose briefly, yet declines spread toward the close. Bonds were uneven and commodities steady, while Sterling strengthened amid cautious optimism about British gains and potential actions against the Nazis.
