Domestic Oil and Gas Officials Meet for Mid-Year Check
Oil and gas conservationists from 33 states convene for four days to assess the health of the industry. The Interstate Oil Compact Commission plans discussions on imports, federal wellhead gas prices, offshore Louisiana crude production, and offshore leases. The commission lacks policing power, with states free to accept or reject its recommendations. Resolutions may urge import cuts, and a special committee will review oil onshore impacts amid shifting offshore activity and reserves.
