Flooding Bites Hondo River Area Southwest of City
Extensive flooding from the Hondo River covered a large area southwest of the city late Saturday. Roadblocks were placed on the truck route about two miles west on McGaffey. Beyond that point to Ferguson road, McGaffey was under several inches of water in several spots with water pouring into fields north of the road. Chaves County sheriff's office had patrols in the vicinity keeping an eye on the rising water.
