Wesley Parker aged 34 faced a speeding charge after driving 75 mph. He told Municipal Judge William O'Brien his 17 year old car was failing and a passing motorist gave him a push that went too fast. The judge imposed a $50 fine and six months probation.
GALLUP A second victim has died from the truck bus crash near Gallup. Elizabeth Hodkinson 20 Bristow Oklahoma died after the early morning collision on U S 6 inside Arizona. Her sister Marilyn Luce 27 remained critically injured. Roy Deaver 55 Albuquerque bus driver died shortly after.
Senator Anderson has accepted an invitation to speak at the New Mexico Grain and Feed Dealers Association annual convention in Albuquerque on February 11 and 12. About 159 dealers from Clovis and surrounding areas are expected to attend, says Austin Brooks the association president.
Brad Watkins of Anderson & Watkins was unanimously chosen as president of the Roswell Chamber of Commerce for the year. A 12 year old girl Dorothy Burton of 1418 S Stanton Ave sustained severe burns in a gas stove flash fire at her home. She was alone when the accident occurred and was hospitalized after the blaze. Police and ambulance reports followed the morning incident.

ENMU extends Spring semester offerings to Roswell High School with 275 total enrollments. Walker AFB personnel account for 147 with 111 more registering at Roswell last night, including 37 civilians. Registration continues next week at the high school and Walker Education Office 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Courses cover audio visual education research economics business law American diplomacy and American political parties. Classes start Monday and run to Thursday April 4.
Six men aged 65 to 71 collapsed and died in Kansas City during a 4 inch snowstorm yesterday. All had heart problems, and city health director Dr. Hugh L. Dwyer said the weather likely contributed to the fatalities.

Valley Building Co of Roswell was awarded a 286651 dollar contract by the NMMI board of regents to build a new Military Science Building. Construction starts immediately with completion due October 4, 1957. The building will be west of the mess hall on College Boulevard and include a rifle range on the top floor and ROTC classrooms on the main floor.
