The 21 member Southeastern New Mexico commission meets on the second floor of the Economic Development District building. Kent Perry of Roswell says the group covers the whole justice system from arrest to parole. The commission backs two prevention methods with priority on personnel training and public involvement.

A 25 year old Susan Rosenkowitz delivered six babies via cesarean at Mowbray Maternity Hospital in Cape Town after a full term pregnancy. The sextuplets, three boys and three girls, ranged from 2 pounds 2 ounces to 4 pounds 2 ounces, all were well formed though one was smaller and required incubators and IV feeding.
The Eastern New Mexico University board approved a Roswell campus facelift including a pitch and putt golf course a soccer and flag football field and an archery range with costs ranging 6000 to 12000 depending on donations Completion targeted for next fall though the golf course may take a year. The board also reported 17000 spent on handicap improvements across about ten buildings and a shuttle service between Roswell and Portales with morning departures and Tuesday Thursday night trips. Enrollment on the Portales campus fell to 4243, down 140, while Roswell campus enrollment held at 1100.
The New Mexico Supreme Court up held a Dona Ana County District Court ruling that Las Cruces does not have to fund relocating utility lines underground in the downtown urban renewal area.
