Alaska Arctic Gas Pipeline Outline Promises 2600-Mile Route
A released map details the 2600 mile Arctic Gas pipeline from Prudhoe Bay and Mackenzie Delta to U.S. markets on the West Coast Midwest and East Coast. The project could supply up to 6 percent of U.S. natural gas demand by 1980 and aims to be the era’s largest construction effort with a 5.5 billion dollar price tag. Roswell Girl Escapes From Fourth Floor of Chaves County Jail
A 16 year old girl escaped from the fourth floor at Chaves County Jail, climbing an antenna to the roof, dropping a rope ladder and using the scaffold to descend. Sheriff Thompson said she had been taken into custody Tuesday as a runaway from Albuquerque's Girls Welfare Home.
