Stocks follow bonds up Friday Dow rises 16.49
NEW YORK AP stocks rose on Friday led by economically sensitive and computer shares as bond markets rallied. The Dow gained 16.49 to 3867.41, its highest close since Oct. 31, with breadth positive and volume at 308 million shares. The Nasdaq climbed 4.03 to 749.69 while the S and P 500 added 0.34 to 460.68. The 30 year bond fell to 7.85 percent as unemployment eased to 5.4 percent with 256,000 jobs added in December after a revised prior month.
