Former Roswell superintendent J. D. Shinkle dies at 75
J D Shinkle longtime Roswell educator and author died at his home after an apparent heart attack. He served as superintendent of schools from 1937 to 1957 and taught economics at ENMU Roswell Campus. He donated over 10000 to a student loan fund and helped found the Golden Age Loan Fund with Cols Lusk and Smith. Survivors include his wife Fannie and daughter Sally Reed. Funeral services are pending.

St Marys Hospital Orders $150000 CLINAC-4 Accelerator
Tom Denton announced St Marys Hospital has ordered a $150000 CLINAC-4 linear accelerator to be housed in a new $50000 building behind the hospital.
