Roswell city officers joined a cattle roundup when 40 to 50 cows escaped Glover's pens and wandered to the North Garden railroad tracks. Capt. John Hale said deputies donned cowboy hats and herded the steers back to Glover's plant by dawn, calling it all in a day's work.
Rep Engwall, R-Chaves Roswell, is reappointed to agriculture and banks committees and to the house rules panel. He aims for natural resources but stays on agriculture with six years seniority. A branch banking bill and abortion restrictions are among anticipated measures. Rep McMillan, also of Roswell, joins public affairs and ways and means. Liquor sales bills and Sunday sales loom for consideration.
Roswell bankers note rising insufficient check volumes tied to population growth and payday peaks.
