Widow Fanny McClane Martin Dies After Pneumonia
Fanny McClane Martin wife of Prof L W Martin died Sunday morning at 2 40 in Artesia after a two week pneumonia illness. Funeral at Artesia home conducted by Elder Arthur Stout, Rev E E Mathes and Rev T C James then burial in Roswell South Side cemetery. Born Belmont dll thirty nine years ago she lived in Roswell, Kansas and Columbia Mo before moving to Roswell 1899 and Artesia 1904. She was a writer and active club member including Woman's Club Shakespeare Club and Book Club and left a son aged fourteen and a adopted daughter twelve with her husband and relatives. She authored The Heart of Mary poem reflecting motherhood and spiritual life.
