Dickason Pushes July Primary and Nonpartisan Judges Plan

Senator Don Dickason of Albuquerque said he will introduce legislation to move New Mexico’s primary to July and to handle primary contests through courts rather than county commissioners. He also plans to refile a nonpartisan judges amendment and a ban on lawmakers working state jobs during office. Dickason opposes moving to a state convention delegate system, praising the existing primary as preferable and noting it reduces machine control.
