High Winds Ravage Washington and Oregon Coast Region

Western Washington and Oregon endured continued high winds and heavy rain causing extensive damage. Cottages, farm land, and infrastructure sustained losses, with towns from Mukilteo to Portland reporting destruction and numerous power outages. Nothing New From Mrs Judd Says Sheriff After Visit

Winnie Ruth Judd, on death row for a 1921 nurse murder in Phoenix, has not revealed new information to Sheriff McFadden during a prison visit. He would return only if she provides new details. her husband Dr. William C. Judd has promised a “true story” but offered no new evidence. Albuquerque December 20 AP five Sandoval County election contests were on file in district court. Luis Salaz seeks to be named county treasurer and Domingo Vigil seeks certification as county assessor. The canvass showed Armijo the Republican treasurer by 89 votes over Salaz and Lucero Republican assessor over Vigil by 107 votes. Contests challenge absentee voter law and seek rejection of 54 absentee ballots and counting of 82 ballots rejected for wrong precincts. Attorney said Santiago Aragon will likely contest Luciana’s election.

Burns Betrayed Trust While a Trusty in Prison

Georgia prison commission telegraphs Governor Moore of New Jersey that Robert Elliott Burns betrayed his trust as a chain gang trusty by escaping. The commission requests his return to complete the robbery sentence. Burns is under arrest at Newark, five days overdue.

AP reports Henry Chandler, an Albuquerque Black man, is held for investigation after police say he forged the name of J. A. Berardinelli, former Santa Fe police judge and state highway employee, on a check. Berardinelli stopped payment at a Santa Fe bank. the check later appeared in Albuquerque bearing his name.

Zinns Move to Santa Fe in January

A. L. Zinn of Gallup justice-elect of the New Mexico supreme court and Mrs. Zinn have moved to Santa Fe. Zinn may qualify as a justice after receiving his certificate of election, but is not expected to do so until January. The canvassing board signed the election certificate today.
