Louis Beats McCoy In Quick Sixth Round TKO
In Boston at the Garden Joe Louis defended his heavyweight title against Al McCoy, weighing 202 1/4 to 180 3/4, delivering two hard rights. McCoy quit after the sixth round with a closed left eye, calling the bout a lousy fight and leaving promoters unhappy with a $46,980 gate. Rip Valenti and Mike Jacobs eyed future matchups, with Conn relinquishing his light heavyweight crown for a 1950 Louis clash in New York.
