Two Men Die In Accident On Highway 66 Near Bluewater
State Police attributed the one car crash on U S 66 about two miles west of Bluewater to reckless driving at high speed. Victims are Tony Gonzales, 20, of Albuquerque, and Leonardo Chavez, 21, of Belen. The car traveled 260 feet on the left, crossed, then 130 feet, hit a rock bank, overturned and rested 90 feet down the road. Both men were thrown clear. The fatalities raise this year’s state toll to 369.

Seven Diphtheria Cases Boost Total
Santa Fe health officials reported seven new diphtheria cases in New Mexico last week, lifting the yearly total to 25 and marking more than sixfold the level from December of the previous year. Two polio cases were also recorded, bringing 1956 totals to 80, compared with 130 at the same point last year.

Californian Injured After Car Flips on Highway Curve
A 1956 Ford with Oklahoma plates driven by Arthur F. Griffin of Indio Calif flipped 30 miles west of Roswell yesterday afternoon after veering off the highway cresting Picacho hill. Griffin suffered a crushed foot cuts and bruises and possible internal injuries and was hospitalized at the Medical Center in a Mason ambulance. State Patrolmen Odell Parish and J E Woodard investigated the 2:15 p m crash which left the car a total wreck after rolling three times and skidding 717 feet.
