Boy bandits sentenced in New Mexico prison term

Otto Cox and Rex Williams, both teens, were sentenced to seven to nine years in the New Mexico state penitentiary for robbing the Hot Springs National Bank of $1,100. They pleaded guilty before Judge Harry P. Owen and were transported to Santa Fe. Authorities seek $60 of the loot, with guns said to be from prior robberies. The federal government will not prosecute.

General Wood Sued Again For Accounting In New Mexico

Brig. Gen. Osborne C. Wood ad jutant general of New Mexico is targeted in a $13,659.58 accounting suit filed in district court by Evaline C. Myers, daughter of Alice B. Myers. The petition asserts funds held in trust for her by another until she reached age 21, which she has now attained.

Lamson Ordered Retried for Murder in Wife Death

San Jose California December 7. David Lamson a former Stanford University press executive was ordered retried for murder in the bathtub death of his young wife Alene Thorpe Lamson. The first Lamson conviction and death sentence was reversed by the state supreme court.

The New Mexico canvassing board overrules objections from both sides on San Miguel county returns with two exceptions for unsigned poll books at precincts 29 E and 52 Los Colonias. If officials sign, county totals stand. Cutting leads Chavez 6,852 to 4,006 with final statewide margin near 1,284.

Bank Robbery Charge In Hot Springs Men Captured

El Paso agent Alex Street said the federal government will not pursue prosecution of Rex Williams aged 19 and Otto Cox aged 23 for the Hot Springs National Bank robbery. Street helped investigate after Cox and Williams were captured by a posse.

Desperado 15 Slain In Fight With Officers

Amarillo Texas December 7 AP des perado Irving Blackie Thompson died in a gunfight with officers near Amarillo after escaping from the Texas penitentiary death house. Police chased him along US 66 as he fired with a sawed off shotgun, then shot and killed him after he jumped from his car and opened fire. Thompson was sentenced for the 41000 bank robbery at Marlin. Also connected were Raymond Hamilton and Joe Palmer who escaped Huntsville prison last July. Palmer recaptured in Kentucky. Hamilton at large.

Storm winds erase hope of saving three fliers

Roswell Lions Club announced Lions International President Vv. C. Hascall of Chicago will visit Roswell tentatively on December 11. Plans include a special meeting and ladies night. this marks the first Lions International president visit to the city. Attorney Ross L. Malone Jr. spoke on war debts tracing money and banking history from colonial times to today. Dr. G. W. Griswold attended as a guest. Ernest Hodges presided in S. P. Johnson Jr. absence.

Jury Selected in Wilson Murder Trial

In El Paso Texas AP reports a jury to hear the murder case against Arthur C. Wilson, a former steel chemist, was filled at noon. Four vacant seats were drawn from a special 79 man venue. John Craven, ranch boss, testified about finding the unclad body of Mrs Irene Debolt near Van Horn on November 7 1933 while delivering a salt load to cattle.

Nelson's Widow Sentenced to One Year and One Day

Helen Gillis widow of gangster George Nelson was sentenced in federal court to one year and one day in Alderson prison for harboring Dillinger and six months for harboring, with both terms running concurrently. She is mother to Nelson's two children, and the decision came from Judge Patrick T. Stone in Madison Wisconsin.

Executions Reported in Russia by Soviet Government

London dispatch cites the Soviet regime executing more than 200 people in the past 24 hours including fugitive Nicolieff accused of killing Sergei Kiroff. Among the victims were Nicolieff’s family and 85 year old mother. fourteen Moscow officials also executed as Stalin orders protection. Moscow described as an armed camp with troops from distant points.

Only 250 of 16060 home loans will be completed

Albuquerque, Dec 7 AP E C Robertson state manager of the Home Owners Loan Corporation said only about 250 of the 1600 loans in process when work was ordered stopped will go through. Another 250 already ready to be closed will not be completed and 800 in process could have been finished but will not. Letters are being sent announcing cessation of work on home loans. The 230 loans that will go through are those now legally eligible for closing under a ruling from Washington.
