Nine Die as Rock Springs Freight Hits Passenger Train
Nine people killed and eleven injured when the Oveland Limited on the U P road crashed head on with a freight train five miles west of Rock Springs Wyoming before 2 am. Both engines were derailed and the dynamo car and dining car burned. The dead include cooks James Busbee Ed Rosenbaum and John Laws and several postal workers and engineers from Rawlins. The wreck is blamed on over-running of orders by the engineer.

Demented Woman Captured After Siege in Train Coach Fort
In Girard Kansas on December 6 Ina Berry a demented woman who for days held town officials at bay in a Frisco railroad coach toilet room was captured shortly before noon. She had been overcome by ammonia fumes after a bundle of rag saturated with the drug was pushed through the window. She fired a single shot at her captors but caused no injury.

Former Judge Caught Short in Gambling
Wm. Prey of Santa Fe New Mexico a former judge was arrested in New York on a telegraphic order alleging he passed a worthless check.
