State Tax Revenues Rise Sharply in November
The State Bureau of Revenue reported a sharp rise in November collections across four major taxes led by the sales and gasoline taxes. Commissioner J. Gallegos cited vigorous enforcement rather than booming business as the main cause, with severance tax receipts the largest since May 1938 and oil and gas driving most of the increase. He projected December and 1939 totals to exceed prior years.
