Trio Chest drive aims for ten thousand in community fund
With nine thousand three hundred sixty two dollars raised this morning a determined campaign pushes to reach the ten thousand goal for the Trio Chest drive. Workers will contact noncontributors and a clean up effort begins next week to finish the joint drive for Boy Scouts Girl Scouts and Salvation Army.

Santa Claus Day Parade Draws Record Roswell Crowd
Santa Claus visited Roswell as many children lined Main Street for the annual event. He and helpers handed out five thousand candy boxes as the parade, led by Santa from Yuc a and Main, set a record for length. Police and Boy Scouts received praise for managing the crowd and procession. Oil prospectors may pay annual rental instead of bond
Secretary Ickes announced a new rule allowing oil and gas prospectors on public lands to pay an annual rental in place of the $1,000 lease bond. Rentals are 50 cents per acre for year one and 25 cents thereafter, with average lease costs from $10 to $640. Lessees who pay 90 days early avoid the bond requirement.

Mitchell Dies in Hunting Accident at Roswell
Funeral services for E. W. Mitchell, Roswell businessman, were held at Ballard Chapel with Rev. F. B. Howden Jr. conducting. Mitchell, founder of Mitchell Seed and Grain Co., died Thursday while hunting with his son. He leaves Mary Louise Baine Mitchell and six children. Cremation will take place in Albuquerque Sunday. He had been active in civic affairs and Elks Lodge.

The county clerk D. P. Greiner said November set a new monthly record with total revenue of 1 002 15 dollars. The breakdown shows county clerk fees 668 15 dollars pro bate court fees 91 50 dollars tax on filing of instruments for capital remodeling fund 242 50 dollars. Youths Plead Innocent in Gallup Murder Case
Two 18 year old Indiana youths, Lyon Fryback and Donald Eugene Combs, face murder charges in Gallup New Mexico after an $18 holdup. Combs initially pled guilty to first degree murder but recanted on the stand, claiming coercion. Fryback also pleads innocent to first degree murder.
