Auto Deaths and Injuries Across New Mexico
One person died and 19 were injured as winter weather iced highways for Thanksgiving travelers. A car hit a parked hay truck near Mosquero killing Do nato Sanchez, 55, while Epifanio Chavez, 24, was seriously injured. A Greyhound sleeper bus crashed into a Vermejo River bridge north of French injuring nine of 14 aboard. Six NMU students were among the injured near Tucumcari, and other crashes occurred near Mora and Alcalde. Snow fell across Sandia and Paxton Springs areas, with plows expected to clear roads by morning as transcontinental flights were grounded. The weather bureau forecast a cloudy Thanksgiving with no rain in the state.

A transcontinental sleeper bus crashed into a Vermejo River bridge in northern New Mexico during a mountain snowstorm.
