Capra Returns Home After Stroke Treatments
Academy Award winning director Frank Capra, 88, was released from Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage California after a series of mild strokes. He resides in La Quinta and received the AFI Life Achievement Award. Capra suffered strokes Aug. 11 but endured no lingering effects.

Davis trial heads to jurors in Hagerman murder case
A District Court jury is set to begin deliberations today in the first degree murder trial of Leonard Davis, 26, charged with killing Rhonda Staples, 21, near Lake Arthur in September 1984. Prosecutors presented ten witnesses, eight for the state and two for the defense, as deliberations loom after witnesses wrapped testimony and the judge denied a reduction motion.

Couple pleads guilty in Roswell prostitution case
Patricia Caulder 28 of Woody Street pleaded guilty to prostitution and obstructing police officers. Richard Coker 30 of Lava Motel pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and concealing identity. Caulder received six months unsupervised probation after a $500 fine was dismissed. Coker got 30 days in county jail with release set for Sept. 6.
