The Roswell Record plans a city celebration for the completion of the Roswell Hobbs paved highway and the longest bridge in New Mexico. Governor Miles and state highway officials may attend. a street dance will cap the event on courthouse steps. The new bridge and 12.5 miles of highway are finished by Henry Thygesen Construction.

Bishop Lucey To Speak Here August 30
Bishop Robert E. Lucey of Amarillo will address the Santa Fe Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women convention in Roswell on August 30 with the topic Is America Neutral. More than 200 women from New Mexico and Texas and about 35 priests will attend the luncheon at the Roswell Women's Club. Reservations are $1, with registration at 8 a.m. August 29, and the program includes talks by church leaders and community figures plus Mass at St. Peter's Church the next day.

Battery A completed a two week encampment at Camp Luna Las Vegas under Captain Edward Purdy commander. About 1000 New Mexico National Guard members attended with 4 officers and 67 enlisted men at full strength.
