Rex Alcorn announces Roy H Schlessman as the new general secretary of the Roswell YMCA succeeding Bill Poirier who moves to California. Schlessman, a Pennsylvania native and Springfield College graduate, comes from Oklahoma City YMCA where he was executive secretary at Westside Branch. He and wife Doris, with four children, will move to Roswell August 21 and reside at 2101 Fulker son Drive.

Massive nude paintings exhibition opens in London galleries

Skeleton identified in Eagle Nest canyon case
RATON AP A skeleton found near Eagle Nest in northeast New Mexico last weekend is identified as Bobby Max Aday 26 of Clinton Oklahoma. Colfax County Sheriff Henry Stockton said parents provided information confirming the identity. The body was found with a wrist watch an Oklahoma University signet ring and another ring with initials BA. The sheriff noted the remain may have been in the canyon for about 13 years.

Fairbanks in interior Alaska faced epic flooding with 80 percent of downtown businesses damaged and most homes flooded. Mayor H A Boucher reported the crisis to Gov. Balloon Test in New Mexico Calls Mars Mission Plans
A giant balloon reached White Sands Missile Range after a sunrise launch from the Roswell Industrial Air Center. Flight test director Jim Payne called the flight practically perfect as the second of three 1967 tests precedes NASA’s planned 1970s Mars mission. John Chester Injured in Accident on O Connor Road
John Chester aged 53 of MR 180 sustained injuries in an early morning wreck on O Connor Road near the former Walker AFB gate. His condition was not listed as he underwent surgery and remained at St. Marys Hospital as of press time.

Experiment Eyed For Saline Water
Fred Hennighausen of the State Engineers Office says New Mexico Tech may run a saline water experiment in the Roswell Artesian Basin. Socorro test directors would inject air under pressure into saline zones, possibly using wells from Pecos Valley Artesian Conservancy District and the Roswell Brackish Water Test Facility. The aim is to push back saline encroachment and reduce it over time.
