CHAVES COUNTY TO SEEK FEEDER ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
At a special meeting the Chaves County commissioners withdrew earlier highway recommendations and proposed a new program funded entirely by federal aid. Projects total 78 250 dollars including grading drainage and paving near Lake Arthur, Pecos river bridges on S R 1 Hagerman to Lovington and on road from Dexter east, and rebuilds on Kenna Olive and Roswell routes with bridges. Representatives from Dexter Hagerman and Roswell Chamber of Commerce approved the plan.

A late yesterday shower brought Roswell 0.33 inch, lifting the annual total to 3.00 inches with a statewide spread of rain across eastern New Mexico and parts of Texas Colorado and Wyoming. Roads stayed passable though some areas were muddy. Clovis reported no rain.
