Bound for Colorado President Roosevelt greeted in Pueblo

President Roosevelt and party travel by special train reaching Trinidad around noon Colorado Springs to receive a 5:45 p m address at Union Station. Governor McDonald and a party meet the train at Emory Gap to accompany to Colorado Springs. An expected crowd of twenty thousand gathers for a large reception. Southern Colorado weather is reported ideal. In Washington a special commission is named to consider river diversion and interference issues with international rivers. Judge Penfield and the state solicitor lead the panel.

Thousand at the Opening of Pecos Valley Fountain

A crowd of about a thousand attended the Pecos Valley Drug Company's soda fountain opening last night in Roswell. The new Twentieth Century fountain drew big lines and spirits rose as locals sampled the beverages and musicians played. Local prospectors and visitors from nearby towns shared news of work and travel, with many planning further business in Artesia and Las Vegas.

Up to Date Barbers Open New Shop Across Street

George Friedenbloom opens the Up-to-Date tonsorial parlor after repainting and remodeling his new shop across from the old stand. The shop boasts the largest bathrooms in the city, four barbers, and a porter per shop. Dr Graves returns to oversee the new parlor, joining staff from Friedenbloom’s former location. Milne-Bush ranch adds Shorthorn stock for first time since 1895

W. M. Atkinson bought five registered Shorthorn bulls for the Milne-Bush ranch from A. R. and J. C. Hamilton. Earlier, they sold four registered Hereford bulls to W. G. Urton & Sons. The sale aimed to introduce new blood, with prices described as fancy.

Interesting Case at Land Office

The contest case of James R. Terry against John W. Barnett and others was heard Thursday in the Government Land Office but was dismissed as it was not prosecuted. It involved desert land entry and claims of insufficient water to reclaim the land. The Barnett Morrow Irrigation and Water Supply Company had an indirect interest. Three homestead filings were made that day, and Thomas S. Nelson submitted a final homestead proof.

Fire destroys thirty five buildings causing heavy loss

A major urban blaze damaged thirty five structures with total losses estimated at three hundred thousand dollars. Fire crews battled the flames through the night, sparing several adjacent blocks and prompting evacuations in nearby streets. No serious injuries reported.

May Settle Strike With Chicago Mayor Aid

Carrie Nation Up Again In Wichita Court

In Wichita district court Carrie Nation Myra McHenry and Lucy Willhart were found guilty of destroying property. Judge Williams sentenced Nation to four months in jail and 250 dollars fine, McHenry to two months and 159 dollars, Willhart to 25 days and 150 dollars. Sentences suspended on good behavior for an offense committed September 30 last when they damaged a wholesale liquor house windows.
