Washington reports say the Interstate Commerce Commission will begin hearings Thursday with both ICC counsel and railroad representatives presenting testimony. The panel will then refer testimony to the Attorney General to pursue possible dissolution of the Union Pacific Oregon Short Line and allied lines. The commission may also seek enforcement to force Harriman to answer questions from his private capacity.

Baton Rouge April 2 Congressman George K Favrot will stay in jail for several months as a new grand jury must re open and act on the murder case after the supreme court quashed the previous indictment. Favrot shot and killed Dr R H Aldrich saying the physician cast aspersions on Mrs Favrot.
Kansas City Missouri April 2 William W Rose twice ousted from the mayor's office continues his campaign for the Kansas City Kansas post with hopes of securing a third term. His political career began in 1905 when he served as mayor of the city.
Miss Janet Alexander and Malcolm Whitman wed at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York in front of social leaders. Whitman, a prominent lawyer, previously won the Harvard amateur lawn tennis championship. The couple will spend summer traveling in Europe.
The Chaves County Horticultural Board announces that Ben Davis and early blooming varieties must be sprayed this week. No further notice will be given. Inspectors will fine $5 to $25 for each day untreated.

Final arrangements are made for tomorrow night’s six round featherweight clash in Philadelphia between Spike Robson of England and Alice Attell the American champion. The Washington state convention of Maccabees continues with national supreme officers and visitors from several states. A large initiation occurred this afternoon and a public session is planned in Eagles Hall. Delegates to the supreme convention will be selected amid praise for Mrs Lillian M Hollister and Miss Bina West.
Elks lodge dedication ceremonies in Baton Rouge begin this afternoon and continue into the night with speeches by Governor Blanchard and Grand Trustee Benjamin M. McNulty among others from Shreveport and Austin Texas.
New York hosts the April meeting of Panama Railroad Company stockholders held behind closed doors. Expected to elect successors for president Theodore Shorts and director W Leon Pepperman, who retired March 4 to join Interborough Railroaders of New York.

In San Francisco on April 2 Judge Dunne's court selected a jury for Abraham Ruef's trial on extortion charges. The first case involves the Delmonico restaurant with principal owner Manifestia testifying that he paid Renf 1175 and De Caviea 1000 under fear. The defense warns of license loss if Renf is restrained.
W. H. Burnett and John Bogar have taken charge of the Beehive Barber Shop, with W. H. Brown uncertain and his son Hub joining the Pecos Valley Laundry. The new proprietors, experienced barbers formerly with Brown, plan to continue the parlor's popularity.
