New High Protein Wheat Grades Introduced for 1978-79
Canada introduces Extra 1 and Extra 2 high protein wheat grades for 1978-79. Quota is 80 kg per quota acre in western Canada. To qualify, wheat must be 15 percent protein or higher. Extra 1 pays 3.27 per tonne over ordinary grade, Extra 2 pays 3.00. Protein testing centers set up. farmers submit grain samples for analysis before unloading at the elevator.
