Autumn birding at Whitewater Lake draws distant geese flock view
A Winnipeg area reader recalls idle harvest fields along Highway 45 from Erickson corner to Rossburn as winter nears. A Sunday trip to Whitewater Lake near Turtle Mountains reveals thousands of geese resting on the lake and in surrounding stubble. The piece notes cooler days, upcoming hockey schedules, and a tribute to local figures Walter Armstrong and John Groshak, with memories of Menzie and Rossburn. A wooden Oakburn blacksmith sign survives, prompting a plan to mark rural schools for the 100th anniversary.
