Pelly Trail School Board approves paraprofessional hires
The Russell board met September 27 with trustees present and approved hiring Gloria Hunter as a part time paraprofessional at Elphinstone Collegiate and Rhonda Smychn iuk as a paraprofessional at Rossburn Elementary. The board also authorized advertising for full and part time paraprofessionals to assist kindergarten and migrant students and approved accepting an offer on the Russell Teacherage from Rick and Wendy Thom.

Self-Service Exposition Draws 350 At Rossburn Stop
About 350 people from Rossburn and area visited the Self-Service Exposition October 4 to 6. The Canadian Unity Information Office program toured in a 45 by 8 foot trailer, presenting government services to rural Canadians. Tour Manager Jacqueline Lalonde noted the expo showcases programs for rural residents as Grades 5 to 8 from Rossburn Elementary attended, with Guilbert Morin as truck driver and Peter Charrier as Program Animator. The truck will tour through Binscarth Shoal Lake Strathclair and Sandy Lake through October.

Hall to receive smoke detectors
The Rossburn village council met October 5 1982 to discuss life safety upgrades for the Rossburn Community Hall including smoke detectors in the basement and entrances and early 1983 plans for further upgrades. It approved a storage shed building permit for Harold Slow and supported a Local Histories Grant. Council discussed rental charges for Rossburn Senior Citizens and attending the MAMU conference.
