Stores go metric in Rossburn area during November
Rossburn area food stores will convert scales to grams and kilograms in November as part of Canada's nationwide shift from imperial to metric units. The changeover, begun in 1982, will affect all weighed items such as meat poultry fish cheese fruit vegetables and candy. Prices will be displayed in both metric and imperial units until December 1983, after which metric units will be used exclusively.

Lengthy L G D meeting in Onanole Park district council
Regular council session of the Local Government District of Park convened at 3 30 P M October 12 with Reeve James C Irwin presiding. Motions adopted include minutes correction, correspondence drafts to Mr Stiles and Mr Taniwa, and a Canada Community Development Project application. Committee reports were ratified, expenses approved totaling 21531 69, indemnities listed for eight councillors and the reeve, and firemen’s equipment purchased for about 250. A September 1982 financial statement was approved for forwarding. Delegation discussed annexation of Park North. lunch adjournment and reconvened for a Variation Board hearing on Application No V 2 by Kenmar Holdings. Objections were heard and Variation Order V-2 approved. see L G D on page 11.
