Life Skills program aids special needs students at Rossburn

At Rossburn Elementary School two special needs students, Bobby Hrycak and Laurie Lawless, participate in a Life Skills program directed by Bob Lonsberry and aides. Bobby learns science and social studies by hands on tasks with a small incubator and four of ten eggs hatched. He cares for the chicks, tends a garden, and keeps a growth chart. Laurie learns life basics in cooking and cleaning using braille labeled oven dials and techniques for measuring pouring slicing and baking. She uses mobility skills and participates in community tours and mobility testing. The program blends visual aids with activities to teach practical independence.
