The Victoria Day holiday weekend prompts an early deadline for the May 26 issue of The Rossburn Review. Staff are advised to submit by the adjusted date to ensure publication.
The notice warns an early deadline of Friday May 20 at 3 00 PM for material to appear in the May 26 issue. It notes late submissions cannot be guaranteed and extends holiday wishes.
The Rossburn Agricultural Society held a May 2 meeting with 15 members. They will advertise the Parkland Harvest Festival on CKND-TV and radio stations CKLQ Brandon and CJGX Yorkton, inviting merchant co sponsorship. Plans for a grandstand were sent to Bob Yuel for review. no reply yet. The International Grade Horse Association will use the grounds September 4, 1983, at no charge. The Rossburn Girls Volleyball Team is authorized kitchen use for fundraising events August 14 and August 20–21.
A fire destroyed the Tony Kryshewski home fourteen miles north on May 7. Rossburn Fire Department arrived within twenty minutes to find the house fully engulfed with no salvage. A benefit household shower for the Kryshewski family is set for May 27 at 8 00 P M in the Rossburn Town Hall basement. donations may be sent in lieu of gifts.
Alexander McPhail received the first Wildlife Preservation Award at a Vista Hall ceremony on Friday May 6. Hon Al Mackling Minister of Natural Resources presented the award for his donation of 160 acres to Manitoba as a wildlife preserve. The land will be available to berry-pickers and nature lovers, with no hunting allowed. The cultivated portion will be seeded to alfalfa and brome this year using seed provided by the province.
The Village of Rossburn council met May 2 1983 with Mayor Louis Kurchaba presiding. Motions passed include first third readings for By Law 647 selling land to Joerg Hermann and By Law 648 establishing a holiday policy. Approval of a TD Bank interest proposal and Careerstart positions for 16-24 year olds. Authorized attendance at the Morden conference. Fees for a European Volleyball Tour fundraiser and pre mix counter plus floor tiling at the Community Hall. Delinquent sewer and water accounts to be paid within 10 days or service ends. Building permits approved for a greenhouse addition porch and trailer placement. Meeting adjourned to May 26.
