Walter Donovan To Be Independent Candidate
Walter Donovan of Elphin stone plans a 65 mile walk across the constituency of Marquette to kick off his independent campaign. He starts 8 a.m. Saturday from Lake Wasagaming north of the Park Administration Building and aims for Minnedosa, then may continue toward Brandon or Carberry to Neepawa. Donovan, 42, a Presbyterian minister, says the trek echoes Old Testament prophets and stresses the need for broader Canadian effort beyond self interest. He cites a vision of a greater Canada and rejects instant success, arguing citizens must work harder.
