Rapeseed and Mustard Production Guidelines for Shoal Lake
Robert Durston advises Polish rapeseed varieties Arlo and Echo for Shoal Lake Manitoba. Echo yields higher. sow early for top yields. seed shallow in a firm bed, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep, with moisture. Use grass seeder or mix 20 lb fertilizer with 10 lb seed. Seed treat with Gammason. control green foxtail with 4 lb TCA per acre. clean sprayers to avoid 2,4-D residue. Mustard, grown under contract, is similar to rapeseed. follow rapeseed weed and fertilizer practices. avoid seed mixture and rotate every four years.
