The Western Region meeting of the Manitoba Women's Hospital Auxiliaries Association convened at 2 p.m. May 16 in the Rossburn Town Hall basement with about 50 members from five areas Brandon Hamiton Riverdale Rossburn Shoal Lake and Virden. Mrs Findlay chaired in lieu of Mrs Haskett as Mrs Young of Virden served as secretary while Mrs Hutchison and Mrs Rosenfeld from Winnipeg guided discussion on volunteer roles and hospital equipment funding following government administration changes.

Nominated at Marquette Liberals choose Rod Clement
The Marquette Liberal meeting in an Open Nominating Convention at Minnedosa Arena Saturday evening selected Rod Clement as their federal candidate. Rudy Usick of Erickson and Dr. Jack Nesbitt were defeated on final ballots with Usick losing on the first ballot and Nesbitt eliminated in a close final vote.

Mother's Day Concert Well Attended
On Sunday May 19 a successful Mother's Day Concert led by Mrs. Phyllis Chopp featured Miss Pat Procyshen Mrs. Mike Tanasychuk Mrs. Lorne Tanasychuk and Mrs. Frank Melnyk with Master of Ceremonies Louis Kurchaba. The program included songs recitations choral speaking accordion solos and Ukrainian folk dancing with a theme of Mother.
