The piece humorously questions if Canada will switch to metric football by 1984 and jokes about fines for non metric measurements. It references TV coverage on national television and social resistance, then shifts to TV comedy and local event notes from Brandon and Oakburn, including SCTV context and community bonspiels with several local rink participants and names.
The piece recalls the neutron bomb era with Ronald Reagan's approval and a joke from Gary David. He quips that Canada has a similar thing while riffing that in America it would be called a 22 percent mortgage. The humor turns on fear, politics, and real estate pain.
