Montserrat Visit Amid Kiln of Pilgrims and Grail Lore
On October 31 1965 the Mauretania cruise passengers toured Montserrat near Barcelona. They rode through rugged Montserrat peaks to a Benedictine convent and Cathedral famed for the Black Madonna and a legendary Grail link. A Sunday crowd filled the sacred site with pilgrims and tourists. They later returned to Barcelona past the arena where a bullfight ran as they rested. On November 1 1965 Majorca is noted as the Balearics’ largest island 135 miles south of Barcelona.
