The past week brought temperatures in the upper 80s with frequent thunder showers. A Thursday storm produced a .50 inch rainfall in town and reports of two bodies north toward the park. Wind damage was noted last Wednesday in Angusville and surrounding areas, with a tornado funnel sighted by witnesses.
Ernie Appelt of Virden sustained multiple injuries after falling from a pole while working with the Man Telephone System on Tuesday. He underwent knee surgery Thursday morning and is receiving care with wishes for a speedy recovery.
Local brief reports show Vancouver visitors for holidaying relatives, Brandon weekend visits by Kostesky and Deanie, a move to Minnedosa by King and Hoffman families, Winnipeg visitors with Bell family, Douglas and Brandon connections visiting relatives, Prince Albert guests, and a recent bridal shower for Sylvia Lukie.
A Tea and Home Baking and Parcel Post will be held on Saturday July 2 at 8 00 p m in the United Church Annex. The Rossburn Game and Fish Association sponsors Red Cross Water Safety Classes at Fishing Lake from July 4 to 15. Transportation will be provided to the swimming lessons from Rossburn at about 30 cents per student per day.
The Rossburn Lions Club cancelled the annual Sports Day planned for last Saturday due to rain making grounds unplayable. Saturday’s showery weather confirmed the decision, with about 40 ball teams entered for various tournaments.
Sympathy to the Chesney family in their bereavement on the death of Mr. Albert Chesney. Neil MacPhail and son of Atikokan arrived to attend the funeral. Widespread visits and hospital notices appear among local residents with condolences and recoveries noted.

Rossburn Village Council met in the council chambers on June 21 with Mayor Peter Wladyka and councillors present. They approved minutes, financial and auditor reports, added properties to the 1966 tax roll, granted $50 to the Rossburn Agricultural Society, and sought approvals for water and sewer works and road repairs before adjourning to July 19 1966.
The Women’s Institute planted a Centennial Weeping Birch in the small Vista Park and celebrates its strong growth. Mr. Baker is thanked for his efforts in caring for the tree.

John Barnesky and L Wonstony traveled to Portage la Prairie. Moan family to Toronto to visit son. Hrycak family and Strilesky attend Gary Hrycak wedding in Sudbury. Koscielny and Margaret Tanasychuk of Winnipeg spent weekend with parents. Howard Mcintos h and Roblin companions returned from Flin Flon.
Lisa Simone Mandziak was christened at St. Theresa Roman Catholic church in Rossburn with Father Przybylski officiating. Godparents were Lillian Slobodesky of Dauphin and Ted Rokosh of Fort Qu’Appelle. Grandparents hosted a supper. many relatives attended from Rossburn and surrounding areas including Ituna Hubbard Geraldton Crandall Shoal Lake and Dauphin with out of town guests from Ontario Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
