Rossburn Village Council Meets June 15 1971 minutes
The Rossburn village council met in council chambers on Tuesday June 15 1971. Present were Mayor Louis Kurchaba and Councillors Mike Baubie Harry Drosdoski and Maron Slon. The Rossburn Mallards defeated the Grandview Lakers 6-1 on Friday June 18, led by Tony Ryshytyle who pitched four hits for six runs. Don Luhowy took the loss allowing four hits, with Gary Maxwell relieving in the seventh. Rossburn committed three errors to Grandview’s five.

The Rossburn and District Recreation Commission met on Monday June 14 with G Ament Mrs D Twerdun Bob Lonsberry E Drul Mrs M Hersack the Chairman and the Secretary present Theresa Sawchuk Ryan Shust Rossburn recreation co-ordinator and Rick Plaissier from the Minor Baseball Association Minutes of the May 12 meeting were adopted The chairman welcomed Ryan Shust to Rossburn as recreational co-ordinator Ryan outlined areas he could assist in The group expected Ryan to benefit youth and seniors during his two and a half month stay They discussed the upcoming Summer Fun program and motioned to extend it to five weeks The remainder of the meeting covered planning summer recreational activities Meeting adjourned.

Rossburn District Hospital Board Meeting Notes
Administrative Committee met Monday evening June 14 at the hospital. Louis Kurchaba presided in the absence of the chair. Present were John Mitchell Lorne Hrysak Vi McKietiak Rose Stef anuk and Don Thompson. Minutes from prior meeting accepted. A Health Unit Board meeting will be held in Rossburn on June 28. Local Board members urged to attend. Applications for X Ray and Lab Technician were received and will be referred to Dr. Rihal. April financials show a deficit of 1153.00. Budget recommendations from the Manitoba Health Services Commission received. Hospital daily rate now 37.05. X Ray facility approved. Smoke and lung disease noted from Manitoba Hospital Association. Spring Regional meeting June 21 at Brandon General Hospital School of Nursing urged attendance. Thompson reported on extending front step for wheelchairs. Fluorescent lighting to be installed in OR. Quotes to be sought for a new washer extractor for hospital laundry. Meeting adjourned.

Parkway Co op Holds Annual Meeting at Rossburn Hall
Parkway Co-operative Limited held its annual meeting and supper banquet at Rossburn Town Hall on June 14 with about 160 served by the Rossburn United Church Ladies. The three-location co op Roblin Rossburn Russell posted record sales of 1,722,000, Rossburn store hitting 188,834. Winners for grocery prizes were Frank Bily Russell Hall Binscarth and G Kryski Rossburn. Directors re elected were Arnott Bryer Kalyniuk. A Federated Cooperatives delegate report was presented by L C Johnston. The 1972 meeting will be in Roblin. A lengthy questions session followed the business items.
