Parkland Library Service opens first three depots
Parkland Regional Library Service announces the opening of three depots in Sifton Grandview and Pine River with plans to operate 18 depots by next Christmas The depots will distribute about 13 000 books by year end from Dauphin and will be replenished monthly with titles for children and adults Residents with library cards from any Parkland municipality may borrow free of charge and a future book mobile will extend service to remote areas in Manitoba.

Umpire Bill Carson to officiate Pan Am baseball
Bill Carson of North Battleford Saskatchewan will umpire baseball at the Pan Am Games in South America from July 20 to August 10. Flying with all expenses paid, he is a respected former Rossburnite and a regular umpire in the Saskatchewan senior league. His wife Faye Chegwin hails from Vista.

Ukrainian Catholic Women League of Manitoba held its June meeting on May 31 due to prayers for Antonin funeral. Sixteen members attended at Mrs. Tinnie Trakalo home. Treasurer Lillian Trakalo reported. minutes adopted. Plans include assisting with fall festival booth and serving meals for funeral and sale events. Jackpot won by Mrs Bonchuk.
