Manitoba expands aid for homebuyers under new program
The Manitoba government increases the assisted mortgage level under the Affordable New Homes Program by up to 3000 for qualifying buyers who miss federal grants. Housing Minister Jerry Storie said the change ensures 90 percent financing for moderate income purchasers with only 10 percent down, raising maximum mortgage assistance from 55000 to 58000. The program, part of Jobs Fund, has approved about 800 mortgages with 300 more in process, covering homes under 64000 with five year terms at 11. percent interest. May 31 remains the mortgage application deadline with sales agreements needed before then.
