Rick Charney, 21, has leased the Beehive Restaurant at the Rossburn Hotel and serves as manager cook. He opened on June 4 with a new menu and homemade foods, aiming for a friendlier, cleaner atmosphere and longer hours.
Western Manitoba Broadcasters Ltd plans to rebuild its 1350 ft antenna after a March sleet storm collapse. Engineer Lawrence Dubois says new tower will restore reception to pre storm levels and improve channels 4 and 5 with maximum height and updated design.
Karl and Norma Kotyk assumed ownership of the Rossburn Hotel on May 1. They plan no major changes but will add satellite TV and Ukrainian and western style bands. Miller High Life beer arrives in Winnipeg and other cities, in imported long neck bottles, and will be offered at the hotel bar.
Manitoba raises the speed limit on PTH 16 Yellowhead Highway to 100 kph across the province effective Wednesday June 1. District Engineer Jack Gottfried cites throughfare status and alignment with Saskatchewan and Alberta as reasons for the change. A 90 kph limit remains at the junction with Highway 10 near Minnedosa and along the concurrent stretch within Minnedosa territory. The legislative action governs the change.
