Dutch elm disease control continues in Manitoba towns
Manitoba renews cost sharing with 43 municipalities including Winnipeg to fight Dutch elm disease. In 1992 the province allocated 805 000 for the program and urban reforestation, covering up to 50 percent of costs or a per capita cap. Municipalities work with foresters to plan inventories, pruning, spraying, removals, and replanting.

Arthritis Self-Management Program Aims to Ease Pain
The Arthritis Self-Management Program ASMP a six week learning experience from The Arthritis Society helps people with all forms of arthritis reduce pain fatigue and low mood. Participants learn to identify personal problems and explore solutions for better quality of life while gaining control over their condition. The Manitoba chapter launched 14 ASM classes in Winnipeg Steinbach Portage Pinawa Selkirk and St. Jean Baptiste and plans spring 93 expansion.
