Oldest rider with the Rolfe Ranch Riders during the centennial was John Rolfe. A.V. Graeber, age 82, wore the John Rolfe costume throughout the centennial. Florence Kober visited with her Be loit, Wisconsin brother G. B. Crandall, whom she hadn’t seen since 1917.
Mrs. Dorothy Cornwell and daughters Frances and Ivis of Morton Minnesota joined Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hertz Grace and Roy, and Mrs. Henry Joens and family for a picnic dinner at West Bend park on a sunny Thursday in mid July 1943.
Earl Fisher left Wednesday morning with his truck for Minneapolis to bring home a threshing machine. He is accompanied by Louis E. Peterson and Donald Cornell. The Misses Dawson Larson Grant Munson Ryen and Clara Dawson took a lakes outing Sunday. Thompson Bros remodels front of hardware and implement store with Elmer Tubbs as boss carpenter.
Fifty years ago Leonard Smith visited Des Moines and New Sharon this week while W W Morrow filled in at the Standard Station. Bine Locke’s family joined Grandpa C W Coffin for a park picnic. Knud Damborg hosted a lawn party for about a dozen friends. Fred Kirkpatrick traveled to Okoboji to swim.
Rolfe town officials meet July 5 1973 with Mayor Wood presiding. Council approves bills and reports, adopts Ordinance 86 repealing beer sale rules, and authorizes immediate adoption. Plans include purchasing a radar unit and sharing fire equipment costs with Rural Fire Dept and Des Moines Garfield Roosevelt township lenders.
